Keep Whisper Hill Clydesdales Special Needs on the road
Tax deductible
Hello, our names are Andrea and Sue and we are two of the main volunteers with a non-profit organization called Whisper Hill Clydesdale’s Special Needs. We are based out of Eldorado, WI and for the past 20 years, we have provided animal assisted therapy for handicapped and special needs children, adults and veterans.
It may be hard to believe that just a childhood dream can turn into something so amazing that impacts so many people, but that’s exactly how this organization came about, for founder, Tim Wiskow. Over the years it has been our pleasure to be able to touch the lives of so many people, and see how the animals positively impact every person they meet.
Whisper Hill Clydesdale’s has over 50 animals including, goats, sheep, donkeys, miniature cows, ponies, and clydesdales. Each animal has different qualities and personalities that help make it so many different people can bond with them. We use our goats, sheep, ponies, donkeys and miniature cows for our petting zoo which is something that we have taken to many different places including, Breakfast on the Farm, schools, agriculture themed events, nursing homes, farmers markets in Omro and Fond du Lac, and so much more. Our ponies are also used for pony rides which we have done at various locations including, Dickens of a Christmas in Ripon, Walleye Weekend in Fond du Lac, Ripon Fest, as well as other big events. Our Clydesdales in the past have been used for wagon rides, which is handicapped accessible. At the moment we are still working with this current group of Clydesdales to get them ready for wagon rides again. We currently are renting a farm which doesn’t allow us to have as many people as we would like be able to get hands on experience and get the benefit from animal-assisted therapy outside of events, there as we would if we owned a farm, but in the past we have had individuals be able to come out to the farm to experience the animals there through classes. All the proceeds that we get from events that hire us for pony rides and the petting zoos, goes right back into the organization to care and feed the animals, advertise, as well as other expenses. We are dedicated to impacting as many people as we can through our animals that we have travelled some long distances in the past to be able to accommodate the requests of those that hire us. With that being said, our truck that hauls our trailer of animals certainly has began to fall apart and not become as reliable as it once was. We need to replace the bed of the truck as well as get 6 new tires, so that we are able to continue bringing our animals to events that impact so many people. We have been quoted that this project will cost us about $10,000.
If you or someone you know has gotten the chance to meet us and interact with our animals or know someone who has benefited from animal-assisted therapy, we would greatly appreciate if you could share this post and/or donate to help us repair our truck. We would greatly appreciate the donation or even sharing this post so that we can reach as many people as possible to help keep Whisper Hill Clydesdales on the road to an event near you.
