Keep Woodside Child Care open!

Hi! We are Woodside Child Care Center (WCCC) … a small nonprofit before/after school program & summer camp serving kids in Kindergarten through 6th grades.  We have a longstanding 45-year history here in the Silver Spring, MD community providing quality, affordable and fun experiences for kids.

I’m Ann Huyett, Director of WCCC since 2000. I believe in WCCC’s mission … an extension of my life.  Many staff work here for years because they too believe in what we do.  Continuity is key in forwarding our mission of providing a family-style environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.  Many kids return to WCCC during their middle school & high school years to volunteer and some have even become a part of our staff.  That says a lot about our positive impact on their lives!

While we work to instill a “We’re all in the together” mindset here, we also hope that this idea transcends our walls into a lifelong desire to help others and the world around us.  We give each child the opportunity to thrive as an individual with a sense of belonging in our nurturing, friendly, fun, safe, and relaxed atmosphere.  We wholeheartedly believe that diversity is what makes life interesting.  And with all of these ideas as the center’s backbone, WCCC is able to serve the needs of school-age kids and their families in today’s society where it really does take a village to raise a child.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Continuing our mission is important to us as well as to our families (past & present).  For the past few years, we have battled increased financial obligations and enrollment fluctuations.  This school year we have a much lower enrollment than ever before and find ourselves in the worst financial crisis to date.  Being able to make our next payroll is a huge concern.  We desperately need new signage for the center as well as new sports equipment …. and the list goes on.

In order for our doors to stay open, we have turned to gofundme.com in the hopes that you will hear our plea and help in any way you can.
