Keeping alive Raj Vikram Singh’s spirit.

Hi, my name is Rajiv Khurana, and I live in Bridgewater, New Jersey. I have created this fundraiser to help the family of my beloved friend and colleague Raj Vikram Singh. Raj, as we all fondly called him, has touched numerous lives, as a friend, as a colleague, and as a kind acquaintance who lit someone’s day with his warm presence and invigorating smile. What made Raj stand apart was his ever-welcoming attitude and his zeal to walk the extra step and help anyone who approached him. For Raj, ‘being there' for people was always a priority. He never shied from exploring all opportunities and possibilities for the happiness and growth of his near and dear ones. Every conversation with Raj was meant to end with a smile on the faces of all parties. His ‘tree of generosity’ has given shade and shelter to many across countries and continents. His enlivening spirit kindled the spark of hope in all our lives. His kind-heartedness remains deeply entrenched in our hearts, showing us that being kind and being there is the ‘only way to be.’

It was on the 16th of July that we lost this precious soul because of a heart attack that resulted in cardiogenic multi-organ failure. For 48 long days, Raj fervently fought against his debilitating conditions and did not let his ailments tear down his spirit. Up until the last minute, his invigorating smile shone in the hearts and eyes of both loved ones and strangers he was surrounded by. His kind demeanor will always warm our hearts and inspire us to be better human beings.

Raj was the sole bread earner of the family and has left behind his wife Sharan, daughter Simran and son Harsh. Simran is attending college in Canada while Harsh is still in high school. Both his children have been very brave as they saw their father fight for his life. Let us keep this brave spirit of theirs alive and do every bit we can to help them build a better future and a better life for themselves. All the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Raj’s wife, Sharan Kaur, who is the beneficiary of this fundraising. I believe this gesture of ours will also help us keep the spirit of Raj Vikram Singh alive in our hearts, minds, and thoughts.

As his family grapples with this unfathomable loss, both emotionally and financially, we need to get together and keep his ‘spirit towards life’ alive. It is our chance to do everything we can for this beautiful, kind-hearted soul who has taught us what ‘community’ really means. We need to embrace his generous spirit and keep this ‘community’ he has created alive. We can do this by transcending our inhibitions, paying homage to his soul, and most importantly, treading his path of selflessness by creating a promising future for his lovely children.
