Keeping Gavin's Memory Alive

UPDATE - The car is no longer being taken thanks to all of you! But, we still need to fix it and bring it home from Wisconsin to Washington. Please, continue to share to all whom you can. Thank you all!
My name is Gary - today, I'm here to ask for your support. I, and the family of my friend, need it more than ever.
I grew up with my best friend, Gavin Schmidt. A kind soul - funny, endless confidence, and the willingness to cross boundaries no other would cross. He was outgoing and the life of the party. He loved playing games, dedicating thousands upon thousands of hours to the craft. He loved cars and treated his first like his baby. He even named it "Chicken." Why? "Because it flies." He loved the car, learning to do maintenance and upgrades with it. A 2008 Honda Civic Si. On some platforms, he even named himself after it.
On May 25th of this year, 2024, Gavin sadly ended his life in Wisconsin, leaving his family and friends behind. Along with this, he left behind mementos that we're in fear of losing. One of those - his beautiful car. His baby. It's just about a month away from being taken by the bank due to debt. On top of this, it needs thousands in repairs after sitting in a driveway. New brakes, new clutch, new parking brake, and more. It's gotten too expensive for the family to handle, and we're now in fear of losing this precious memory forever.
I'm here to ask for your help and gratitude. This car not only meant everything to Gavin, but means everything to us. We want nothing more than to bring it home, but it's across the country in Wisconsin, whereas we're in Washington state. It's going to take a lot to get there, especially with short notice, but with your help, we can bring Chicken home where he belongs.
Supporting us and sending a donation will bring him home. You'd be helping his brother and sisters, his parents, his friends - you'd be keeping a memory alive for the entire lot.
After calculations, his family needs roughly $8,000 in order to fully repair the car, pay off the bank, and drive it back home. Any extra proceeds after the fact would be going toward the debt after his passing - funeral costs, memorial debt, and other such similar debts.
This has been a tragic time for all of us, and the only thing making it worse is the mountain of debt coming with it. Your support means the world to all of us.
