KEEPING LOVE ALIVE FOR THEO DIXON
Donation protected
Theo Dixon is affectionately known as the Mayor of 71st street and the Upper West Side Improvement Group Chairman. Theo is a 97-year-old, honorably discharged WWII Marine Veteran, a native New Yorker, and a staple of Columbus Avenue. Theo has been "keeping love alive" on the Upper West Side by continuously "making it better". In the past, Theo made it his duty to be out on the avenue every morning, greeting the children on their way to school and letting them know that he is "depending on them" and that they are the future, spreading the message of love as only he can.
Theo has been doing his best to get outside as much as possible, but these days can only do it with assistance. His veteran's benefits only provide Theo with homecare aid for a few hours twice a week, which is far short of his needs. Theo misses his daily dose of children and dogs, which is his self-described medication. Being outside was a lifeline for Theo, who thrives on the art of conversation. Please keep Theo in your thoughts; if you can help support him in any way, it will be most appreciated. Theo is very proud, and while he would never ask, sometimes we all need a bit of love and support. If you have crossed his path, you know he has earned all of our gratitude and love.
This fundraiser is an ongoing campaign to help with Theo's ongoing cost of living, because, as Theo says, the beat goes on, and the game don't never stop!
Lastly, and maybe the most meaningful to him, those who know Theo and those who don’t — especially children — can send cards and letters and photos to him — by snail mail to:
