Keeping Pet Kingdom

Hello everyone, my name is Melanie and my family owns a local pet store in Las Vegas called Pet Kingdom. A little history about it, is it originally was named Pet Kingdom USA and started about 30 years ago. Throughout the journey, my mom has been working for that store for many years. With the previous owners, they saw me growing up as I would volunteer there and I eventually got my first job there! It wasn’t until 2017, when the store was going to close and literally overnight, my family decided to purchase the store and save it. Growing up, I would always say “one day I’m going to be the owner.”
I am now, 23 years old and owner of Pet Kingdom. This store is my mom’s American dream. It has provided her with so much happiness and I can assure you all the pets are loved. If it was up to her, all the pets would be hers. If you ever happen to walk into the store, you will notice a lot of pets are not for sale… Those are hers lol.
Recently due to COVID-19, we have experienced plenty of hardships. We stayed open the whole lockdown as we were deemed essential and we needed to provide food for our communities pets. COVID-19 so happened to affect us once July hit. Summer is our slowest season due to the fact we can not get animals shipped due to the heat in Las Vegas. We are now in October and sales are low. There are some days we only sell about $100-300 per day. We are behind on some bills such as rent. Our rent so happened to raise in July, when we had no money to catch up on it. We have received an email from our landlord stating we will be receiving an eviction notice on October 9th. These past few days have been very stressful because we do not want to lose the store. My family, especially my mom have given this store their everything. It gave my mom a job, has provided for our family, and given many of pets good homes.
We did not want to reach out the the community for help because we wanted to do it on our own, but we are desperate. We are not asking for much, but anything helps. We appreciate your donation so much!!
