Keeping the Gibbs Community Healthy
Donation protected
Hi! I am Kristina and I am a parent of a child at The Gibbs School (ETA: that child wrote the first draft of this text!!) With the new Covid-19 Omicron variant we need more protection then ever and, research is showing us that cloth masks and poorly-fitted surgical masks just won't protect against transmission of this variant. This fundraiser will provide well-fitting, high-quality KN95 masks to help protect students, teachers, and their respective families.
We know that good masks will help protect against transmission. For more information about the importance of mask filtration and fit see THIS Twitter thread, THIS article, and THIS video.
I have fronted the money to purchase enough Powecom KN95 masks to distribute Five (5) masks to every Gibbs student and staff member. These masks fit many faces universally and have very high filtration. However, just in case, I am also purchasing a smaller number (hundreds) of Dr. Puri KF94 masks to fit smaller and harder-to-fit faces. The masks will be distributed with paper lunch bags, for mask storage.
Gibbs students will produce a video about proper mask fit, use, and storage.

Distribution logistics are to be coordinated by Mme Pierre-Maxwell and the rest of the administration. The plan is to get these masks to students as soon as possible after the return from break in January.
Participation in this fundraiser is voluntary: think of this as a Mutual Aid Community Effort. We know we can keep our community healthy with good masks and don't have the time to organize a whole-school subscription effort. Give as you are able for the good of all. Thanks very, very much!!
