Keeve & Taylor's Tragic Wedding Tale

My name is Christy Butcher, and I'm getting the word out about raising funds for my amazing nephew, Keeve Crosby, and his fiancé, Taylor Buffelen.

 

Their love story has all the makings of a Hallmark movie. They met in a friends group at church and started spending time together as Keeve volunteered to help fix the rotor on Taylor's car, ... the brakes, ... the headlight, ... and then change the oil. For 18 months, they built their friendship before they officially dated. In Sept. 2021, Keeve proposed in a candle-lit gazebo at dusk, and Taylor said YES! The wedding date was set for May 21, 2022. They were so thankful when Keeve started a great new job at CalPortland early in 2022 while wedding and honeymoon planning were underway.

 

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Keeve was cooking dinner for Taylor at her apartment when a pan of hot grease exploded into flames, burning Keeve on his face, hands, legs and feet. Unfortunately, there were third-degree burns, and he underwent skin graft surgery on May 14th... one week before the wedding! The surgeon promised he would have Keeve to the church on time for his vows!

 

Keeve's tuxedo will cover most of his wound dressings when he marries Taylor, albeit with a boot on his foot. The bride and groom will use stools at the front of the ceremony but will be tremendously grateful that Keeve is at the wedding. There will be a father-daughter dance at the reception, but not a mother-son dance. BUT THE WEDDING WILL TAKE PLACE!

 

If that wasn't bad enough, Keeve's medical bills are not covered because he hadn't been employed by his new company for more than 90 days. The initial medical bill for the hospital stay is $86,000. This amount does NOT include the surgery cost. We are incredibly thankful for the gracious medical staff treating Keeve while he heals in the Arizona Burn Center. We couldn't have asked for a better team!
