On Saturday, June 13th, we lost a good man far too soon. Keith C. Blocker was a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a teacher and a leader. He was a man of deep faith who epitomized love, grace, tolerance, and patience. He spent a lifetime fighting the painful effects of sickle cell disease, yet still found the strength every week to teach Bible study to children and feed the homeless in Los Angeles. He was devoted to his beloved wife Beth and cherished son Hayden. Keith lived humbly and responsibly – but also possessed a sharp wit, an infectious laugh and a devilish sense of humor. He was an unrepentant film nerd who could mimic Ben Hur perfectly before effortlessly switching to Greedo in the Cantina (in flawless Huttesse, of course). Keith exemplified the best of both humanity and religion – leading without ego, helping without agendas, loving without conditions. And always – always – giving to others more than he took for himself.
After a lifetime of pain, a sickle cell attack finally ended his life. Now, Keith’s family needs our help. We are raising money to help Beth and Hayden Blocker. We’re asking you to help his family like he helped countless others – both strangers and loved ones. If you knew him, you know what a loss this is to the world. If you didn’t, the smile you see in these pictures are truly the window into his beautiful soul. Please help.
With gratitude,
Jennie Bailey, Ted Sullivan, and Jennifer Toledo
