Keith D’Angelo’s Avalanche Accident Fund
My name is Nathan Schroepfer. This is Keith D’Angelo and he is one of my best friends. On March 24th around 1 pm in the afternoon, Keith was caught and carried in an avalanche in Ophir, Colorado just outside of Telluride. Keith sustained massive injuries and trauma including a broken right femur, a broken left hip, a fractured scapula, a punctured lung, a lacerated kidney and lung and three torn ligaments in his left knee. Due to a miraculous rescue effort by many local people that had never met Keith and many local service providers, Keith is alive in serious condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Because of so many and his determination and will, Keith is working hard to overcome the extraordinary pain and heal. The COVID-19 has kept his close family and friends from being with him during this difficult time. However, we are all amazed and inspired by his determination to progress. This article details Keith's accident and the heroism by many to save his life. https://www.outsideonline.com/2411094/backcountry-accidents-coronavirus-colorado
Keith is this a single father and a resident of San Miguel County. He is a local artist as well as a successful small business owner. Keith is actively known in his community by creating and donating art for local festivals and donating time to local schools to access his welding shop. He has a passion for life and it shows in everything that he does. Being the best father he can be for his 7-year old daughter Spring, stands on top of that list. He is, simply put, an amazing human being.
Right now Keith really needs our help. At the time of his accident, Keith was in between health insurance coverage and was not covered. His medical bills will be many and they will be large so I am looking to raise additional funds to help offset the financial hardship that he will endure of top of his physical hardship. Due to the extent of the rescue and the severity of his injuries, his bills will be astonishing. At the time of updating this site, he has had three surgeries and will face a long road in a wheelchair and physical therapy over the next few months. I have created this go fund me in the hope that we can all help Keith keep his small business, pay a small portion of his health bills and reach the challenging physical goals he has set for himself to return to normal life. Keith did not ask me to create this fund but I wanted to do what I could for my friend and I know he would be grateful for anything you can do to help too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
