Please help Keith & Gaelyn

Donation protected
Aloha Everyone! This week marks one-year since Gaelyn's tragic accident. I am happy to report that they have returned to the islands to be closer to friends and family, but her life will never be the same. Help is still needed. In addition to friends and family, Gaelyn requires professional assistance 24-hours a day. The cost alone for the in-home caregivers is $27,000 a month, and insurance does not assist with in-home care. That's before other daily necessities and does not include PT and other vital treatments. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated... and if you can stop by and visit - I encourage you to do so. Our sweet wonderful Gaelyn is still in that body of hers and would love to spend time with you. On behalf of Keith, Gaelyn and the entire Morrill and Ishii families -- I wish you all a happy new year!

-------------- July 2022 ---------------
Our girl is coming home!!!! As we all know, Gaelyn was in a horrific accident at the beginning of the year. It's a long road to work through a Traumatic Brain Injury, and Gaelyn has been working hard at specialized clinics on the mainland. Unfortunately, the number of days insurance covers her to stay in these in-patient skilled nursing facilities has expired, and she has to move to an at-home treatment schedule. Because of this, Keith is bringing Gaelyn home to be closer to family and friends for this next stage of treatment.

However, as you might imagine, the costs are out-of-control. Insurance only pays so much, and Keith covers the balance out of pocket. In addition to the medications and supplies she needs, when she returns, Gaelyn will need in-home PT, OT, Speech Therapy, and education for years to come.

Keith has also found that other therapies such as acupuncture, full body massage, cold laser therapy, nutritionists, hyperbaric oxygen treatments and more have significantly impacted Gaelyn's recovery efforts. After one cold laser therapy session, she could speak and breathe fully for two days, and a single reflexology session allowed her to speak for an entire day. None of these treatments are covered by insurance, but they are vital in her quest for recovery, so Keith is paying for them out of his own pocket.

Whatever treatments out there that can help Gaelyn recover faster, Keith will utilize, but he could use any help we can give him and, to be honest, will probably continue to need our help for some time to come. So, please help if you can.

Also - Keith and Gaelyn have been forced to move into a more expensive condo to accommodate her wheelchair. If anyone knows of an available wheelchair-friendly home, please let him know. Gaelyn will spend most of her time inside that house, so he is hoping for a pleasant environment, and parking is critical because he wants it to be easy for people to come by and see her often. They are scheduled to return to Hawaii in the middle of August.

They say it takes a village, and they need their village now more than ever. Let's shower our friends with the love and support they so desperately need.
