Keith Jacobs, A Hero Among Us
Donation protected
Hello,
We are Kelli and Carol, co-owners of SALT (Senior Adventures in Learning and Travel), and we are raising funds for our new webmaster and old friend, Keith Jacobs. Keith has encountered some hardships, the most recent being broken ribs as a result of being a good Samaritan. Sharon gives a detailed account of the incident below. As a photography teacher for lifelong learners and now as our new webmaster for SALT, Keith has given so much to us and has become a dear friend. He is a kind and generous person who needs our help. We hope you can show him some love and help with his medical bills.
Keith Jacobs, A Hero Among Us
Keith has been a pillar of the Myrtle beach community for many years and has been well liked by anyone he has met due to his good hearted nature and his commitment to professionalism. Recently, Keith was injured and has amassed a great deal of medical bills strictly because of the great person he is and the moral code he lives by.
There was an unruly customer that came into my restaurant when Keith and I were having a meeting about our next project. I had addressed this person before he was served and warned him that if he was going to be loud that he would have to leave. The second time I had gone up to talk to him Keith, unbeknownst to me, had followed me, and was standing nearby. This customer was respectful to my face, but started mocking me and making obscene gestures behind my back. Keith had calmly approached him as I was walking away. I turned around and saw this man towering over Keith aggressively in his face. I immediately came up to get in the way and told him to leave since usually a woman in the mix will simmer the situation. Instead, this man then hit me in my face. Keith, the smallest guy in the room, got in the middle and did his best to maneuver him out the front door. This person was out of his mind - punching him, kneeing him in the stomach and they ended up rolling around on the ground. In the process, Keith fell on a patio table and hurt his back. Keith initially thought he was ok but ended up in an ambulance going to the hospital. They checked his kidney for internal injuries and he ended up with a broken rib. Thankfully, this man was caught and is being prosecuted for two counts of third-degree assault and battery. Unfortunately, this act of protection does not cover his medical bills. There were at least 15 men in the restaurant, and many that saw this guy hit a woman. Keith was the only one that stood up and made sure I didn’t get hurt. I have no doubt he took the brunt for me and I will forever be thankful.
Please help Keith cover his medical costs, as it will be a difficult process to get restitution. He is also unable to do the physical parts of his job as a small business owner for at least another month, which has also affected him financially. Keith would never ask for this help but we hope we can all come together to show him how grateful we are to have him in our community.
