Keith Sylvester's Fight Against Rare Brain Cancer

Hi, my name is Michelle Byers. Our family received news that our loved one (my cousin) Keith Sylvester was diagnosed with Thalamus Glioma a rare aggressive brain cancer. Keith was experiencing really bad headaches, confusion and other symptoms. He went to the ER the doctors did an MRI and then transferred him to Georgetown University Medical Center for further testing. He was seen by a neurologist and oncologist and told he had a tumor and would need to have brain surgery so they could biopsy the tumor to see if it is cancer unfortunately, he received the news it is cancer. They could not remove the tumor because of its size and location in the brain. We will not know the prognosis until the biopsy comes back from pathology. He will be going home on steroids for 2 weeks and then begin radiation and chemotherapy for the next 6 weeks.

Keith is only 39 years old with a loving family. He and his wife Julia have three children, a daughter Aubree (7), two sons Landyn (4), Braylen (21 months) and Julia is currently pregnant with a baby girl Oaklynn. She is due May 31st. Keith will be out of work while he begins his fight against this rare cancer. Keith is a loving husband, father, son, cousin and nephew. He is maintaining a positive attitude as he begins this difficult journey.

Our family is heartbroken and in shock after receiving this news about our loved one. We are reaching out at this time for any help you would be able to donate to Keith's fight. The donations will be used for medical expenses, traveling expenses for care and treatments (hospital is two hours from his home), utility expenses, mortgage expenses and daily expenses. His mother my Aunt Linda will also be traveling back and forth from Pittsburgh to Baltimore to help with Keith while he goes through treatment and as well as to help Julia with the kids.
