Help Kelcey Get Healthy
Over the last 10 years I have worked hard to achieve my goal of becoming an Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) so that I can become a therapist who specializes in trauma work. While I’m not there yet, I recently sent off my application to become an independently licensed LCSW. This has been a long journey for me and I didn’t always treat myself and my body with care. In grad school I worked full time while completing a practicum and my coursework. Following graduation, I immediately threw myself into a mobile crisis position which required odd hours and was high stress. Through the process I often forgot to meal plan, ate at odd hours, missed sleep, ate unhealthy foods, and of course experienced increased depression and anxiety. All of this led to weight gain in excess of 100 lbs.
Now that I am so close to reaching my career goals, I’ve realized the need to prioritize my health, after all you can’t have a career if you aren’t here. With the recommendation of my doctor, my next goal is to have bariatric surgery to help remove the excess weight from my joints and give me the best chance at staying healthy long term ... However, this surgery is expensive and my health insurance deductible is $8,000. As a social worker with student loans, it’s just not feasible for me to save $8,000 over the next year, but I also know my body can’t continue to support me at this weight. I’m asking for your help to achieve this goal before my 30th birthday in 2022. Thank you all in advance for your support!
