Kellie’s ‘30 days of Fancy Dress’ for Club AUsome

Hey everyone!

I’m Kellie, founder of an amazing little charity in Medway called Club AUsome.

Founded in 2015, we set out to make a difference to families that have children with Autism and we have truly grown since then, now supporting over 1600 families across the Medway and Kent.

I founded Club AUsome as I myself am a Mum to three amazing children, all of which have Autism but also many other needs including a rare chromosome disorder.

I wanted life for them to be different, I wanted them to be accepted for the unique young people they are - and under the Club AUsome umbrella they and now many others are flourishing.

As a charity, more importantly as a parent, I want to empower young people to know that they’re the best they can be, that they have lots to offer and that they should be appreciated for who they are, regardless of life’s challenges.

I wanted to empower their parents and carers to go out there and fight for what’s right knowing that I and Club AUsome are there next to them every step of the way.

Club Ausome currently operates 6 days a week - completely run by volunteers who all want to make a difference in our community.

We have two youth clubs, community outings, dance groups, life skills, coffee mornings and exclusive access to local venues where we know our families will feel safe.

As well as all of that, we deliver food parcels to families and operated throughout the pandemic.

We go into schools and offer support, to both the parents and the schools.

Our aim being that we can open up communication and then hopefully everyone can work together to make sure the young persons needs are met.

So why am I dressing up?

The answer is because it’s absolutely ok to be different and let’s celebrate that.

The young people of Club AUsome have chosen many of my outfits - and I’ll be wearing one every day for the whole of April.

Every session we run, every appointment I have, every social event I need to go to… I’ll be in Fancy Dress.

I and the families of Club AUsome would appreciate any support you can give.

Any funds raised will go directly back into supporting the families and ensuring that we’re able to continue doing all the fun things we do - and if we can raise enough this year we have some very exciting plans.
