Perry and Deb have been our friends and neighbors for over 20 years, I have never experienced people who so freely give of their love, their time, their home and their money to so many in need. They have been foster parents for more than 10 years and have loved and given their heart to many children along the way. Perry teaches science in an alternative high school and is always providing things for his students, such as providing food and breakfasts for them. Assisting a student in need is the encounter that made them become foster parents. This young lady's children have become Deb and Perry’s grandchildren and they often provide help to her family. Deb taught for 28 years but her numerous health issues no longer allow her to teach. It has not stopped them from fostering more than 15 children in emergency situations. They recently adopted a sixteen year old and have thus completed their family, they think. Recent flooding in central Iowa caused $12,000 worth of damage to their home. They do not have a way to pay for this or to replace their 2001 van. They currently use it for family activities. It is running but windows don’t roll down and it has no air conditioning. They have never asked for help before, but have given to so many charities and people along with adopting four special needs children. We finally convinced them to ask for help. Please share this with other's who may want to assist. Sometimes those in need are your neighbors, but their voices are quiet, so I am honored and humbled to share with you my love for this family. If you have a story or memory with the Kellogg's please share, I know they would love to hear from you!
