Kelly Carmen Terminal Cancer

HI, my name is Matt Nunn and I am Raising money for Kelly Carmen.

After 34 years in communications here in the Atlanta and GA region, some of you know of, or have witnessed, Kelly’s mysterious decline in health over the last couple of years. He can now use others help, whether he likes it or not.
He has been frustratingly facing growing unknown issues impacting his physical health, mental health, work along with memory issues. All driving his spiritual health and motivation down. Sometimes deep down.
He now has some unwanted answers and even more complicated issues.
Insurance companies.
He was admitted through the ER and treated under emergency surgery on Dec 31, 2023, under his 2023 insurance. Subsequently, he was informed he has Terminal Stage IV metastatic colon cancer. Abdomen, liver and lungs.
His new insurance started Jan 1st, 2024. His cancer was not “confirmed” until 2024 according to 2023 coverage.
He is now dealing with “dueling insurance companies”.
Leading up to this answer, Kelly had several traumatic and stressful events that would tax most of us over 2 years. His personal health kept taking a hits as well as taking a backseat to work and other people’s needs. He did seek repeated help through many doctors but still never got the right answers.
He finally took a leave of absence from CEi in July to search out medical answers full time, and try to resolve these growing issues. After months of tests on top of tests, with multiple doctors in many areas of medicine, he still had no answers and only further symptoms and “treatments”. In October, after the passing of his dad, Kelly’s health spiraled even faster.
Without any tangible answers, Kelly and CEi parted their mutual relationship in the beginning of December as there seemed to be no future answers in sight medically, and he saw no visible path to return to work in our industry any time soon.
After a couple more weeks of spiraling, he lost 45lbs before Christmas but still thought he just needed the right doctor to figure it out and “get him back to work”.
Finally on Dec 30th his wife Cindy had had enough of “I’ll be fine”, and dragged him to the ER. He was seen on Sunday the 31st, and by 3 A. M. he already had a surgical team called in for emergency removal of multiple tumor clusters that were literally starving him to death.
The surgeon found and removed the largest masses of tissue with countless tumors in it and confirmed more tumors through his abdomen, liver and lungs.
GOOD NEWS IS, that after the large sheet of tissue filled with the most tumors was removed, Kelly’s previously growing issues with brain-fog, thought cloud, mental health pressure and overall “Kelly” killing impacts, were suddenly gone in one day.
He quite literally became the old Kelly and dad that his friends and family haven’t seen in several years.
Not the answer anyone wants, but he was highly elated just to have that answer. Any answer.
His focus now is on one family milestone at a time.
His daughter’s wedding in May.
His and Cindy’s 30th wedding anniversary in June.
His God sent new and broad medical team is confident in the life saving surgery along with a currently intense Chemo treatment plan hitting the cancer as hard as possible. Kelly has always been very strong, stubborn and determined and is fighting this with everything he can muster. He has a highly positive attitude going into his new path, whichever direction it takes him. He is thankful for any time he has now been given past that Dec day.
He and his family CANNOT thank all those who have already helped and all those who were there for him instantaneously, without batting an eye.
Despite his overwhelmingly positive attitude and family support, much is needed. He is unable to return to work but somehow is still focused more on others he thinks he may be leaving, than healing himself due to what he does most.
Worry.
We need to get Kelly to understand he needs to stop and let others be there for him, instead of the other way around.
God Bless any and all help that will get him there.
Thank you.
