Kelly Brazil + Tiny House Project

Donation protected
Dear Queer community and those who Love us:

I am THRILLED! to announce that I have been given a unique opportunity to combine both my passion for youth work and my skills as an artist!

I will work with up to 7 queer identified youth who are experiencing homelessness to build a tiny house out of found metal,  wood and other objects.  Together, we will spend time dreaming and talking about the meaning of home and how you build it while constructing the frame and insides for a loveable tiny house.

Starting August 1st, the project team has 20 days to complete the construction.

Open house for the completed project is on Saturday, August 20th, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Soap Factory.

This is part of the Soap Factory's 3 x 5 Emerging Artist residency.  I was invited by Mike Hoyt , to use one of three spaces at the Soap Factory to come up with a project for the month of August.

With $4,000 I will be able to employ up to 7 queer youth at $10 hour for 10 to 15 hours a week for 3 weeks, feed them and purchase building materials. Many of the materials I will be using will be donated or found by me.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, DJ Keezy has lit up the Twin Cities scene by quickly making a name for herself. She has recently opened up for DA BRAT, THE INTERNET, and KEHLANI. She has even been able to spread her tunes out of state in Chicago and Florida. Keezy's style is heavily influenced by hip-hop, jazz and R&B. Her signature sound consists of spinning old school throwbacks, tracks by female artists, and the hottest new remixes.
Keezy is known for supporting our female local artist by throwing events with an all female line-up throughout Minneapolis. When Keezy spins she always brings people together and has everybody grooving on the dance floor!
