A Helping Hand for Kelly Russell
Donation protected
You're probably reading this because you know that our friend Kelly Russell is truly one of the most compassionate and giving people that you have ever met. There have been countless times when he has put others' needs before his own and been eager to lend a helping hand.
Today, a core group of his closest friends is asking you to return the generosity that you experienced, directly or indirectly.
Over the last two years we have seen our friend's life fall apart, despite our pleas that Kelly seek medical help. It has now gotten to a point that Kelly has realized that he does need help of all types – medical, legal, and financial.
The last week of August we were finally able to take him to Johns Hopkins for a medical evaluation to determine the cause of his change of behavior. A CT scan came back clear, indicating that there is no brain tumor. The psychiatrist's evaluation said that further evaluation and treatment is needed. He has a long road before him.
For years Kelly worked as a very gifted bodyworker to help others regain their health and overcome life challenges. Now is a time we are finally able to help him. At the moment his needs are great. His life has become a house-of-cards that has fallen down around him and he knows that changes are needed.
In the last few months he has found himself without electricity, transportation, without and any type of health or car insurance. His house is being foreclosed on and he has no money or assets. He is also in jeopardy of being put in jail a second time for not having car insurance, especially if he cannot pay his fines. And at this time, due to his health challenges, he is not able to work.
Although declaring bankruptcy is imminent, and he very well may lose the house, we are working hard to minimize the consequences of the personal disaster that he has created. We are working to help him apply for Social Security and other social services, but this takes time.
With our combined efforts we can make Kelly's life just a little easier. Now is an opportunity to back to him what he so many times has given to others – support.
Kelly knows that he has created divides in many of his friendships. Those of us who know and love Kelly, know that it was not the “real” Kelly who behaved that way. Thus we are coming together in our dear friend's greatest time of need to help him put his life back together.
Positive thoughts and prayers are requested and any financial help you can give is greatly appreciated as there is a huge financial need. He has medical and legal expenses that need to be paid along with utility bills and back taxes, which are not able to be dismissed in bankruptcy.
We know that all of his debts will not be able to be paid, but if we can gather at least some money to help take care of those bills that are critical, it will help. Even $5 that you might have spent on a muffin and coffee will help.
Kelly has not asked us to do this for him, we are voluntarily doing this. And he has said that he does not want control of this money. It will be deposited to a bank account that is set up for his benefit.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Kelly appreciates it more than he can say and is beyond thankful for your support.
Thank you for donating.
