Kelly’s Park Memorial
Donation protected
Kelly passed away peacefully at home May 7, 2019 . Her journey took her on a 5 year courageous battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.
In honoring Kelly’s legacy the donations will be used to establish a Memorial Bench at Kelly’s favorite park, the West Woods
and to support cancer research.
Kelly loved the parks and would regularly hike the west woods during chemotherapy
treatment to maintain her strength.
last year kelly came up with this CRAZY idea to challenge herself and raise cancer awareness, “ let’s hike the Grand Canyon “
rim to rim , 25.5 miles , 10,637’ elevation change ........ In One Day !
To train for this kelly would hike for hours at the west woods doing laps on the trails , people would ask her if she was lost.
But in true kelly fashion , with her loving husband and her best friend lauren , on June 16, 2018 she hiked from the north rim to the south rim in 15 hrs . 47 min . The hiking photo was taken at the bottom of the Canyon at Phantom Ranch at a COOL 111 deg.
Kelly was an avid mountain bike racer and loved to compete in the NUE 100 mile race series . Kelly reached out to the cycling community and started a fundraiser called the “Mohican For Life Challenge”. Kelly would use this platform to raise awareness and research funds for Cholangiocarcinoma.
Kelly was a gift to all who met her. Her smile and zest for life made it a joy to be with her. We will honor her memories and the motto she was known for.
