Kelly’s Postpartum Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On December 23, 2022 my sister Kelly arrived to the hospital in labor with her baby. Kelly was admitted, labor progressed into the next day, and she began pushing. The excitement was brewing for our family! After four grueling and exhausting hours of pushing to no avail, Kelly was taken to the operating room for a cesarean section. Her perfect baby boy was born healthy and vibrant at 9 lbs, 14 oz, and 22 inches long on Christmas Eve 2022.
Unfortunately, Kelly suffered a severe postpartum hemorrhage from a hematoma discovered shortly after her cesarean procedure. Kelly rapidly lost 5 liters of blood or all of the blood circulating in her body. We were notified that Kelly would require close monitoring in the Intensive Care Unit. Kelly is currently recovering from multiple blood transfusions and a second emergency surgery that was required to save her life.
Kelly is a warrior and remains in the hospital where she is doing better each day. She will have a long physical and emotional recovery ahead of her and we will be there for her every step of the way. For many weeks she will be unable to lift, move around as she is used to, or work. Jake, who has been unwavering in his support for Kelly and Hudson, will also be unable to work as Kelly will need 24/7 care until she has fully recovered. After discussion with close family and friends, we have decided to utilize GoFundMe as a means to offset the financial impact this unexpected complication will have on her, Jake, and sweet baby Hudson. Funds will be used towards numerous postpartum care resources for Kelly and Hudson, including at-home nursing care, as well as for daily living expenses.
This was the scariest day for Kelly and for our family. We are all so deeply grateful to God that she is still here with us. This has affected us all to our core and most of all, our Kelly girl. We appreciate your prayers and support as we stand alongside Kelly in her transition to motherhood.
