Kelsey Mercado Medical and Family Help

Hello, my name is Tony Peña and on Tuesday 1/23/24, our dear friend Roberto Mercado and his young family were involved in a horrific car accident while visiting family in Mexico. Unfortunately, Kelsey suffered severe trauma to her head and serious bodily injuries.

Currently, Kelsey is still unconscious, but in stable condition and slowly recovering. She has gone through multiple surgeries to repair the many body fractures she endured. As of Feb 10th, she is still unconscious and slowly recovering from surgeries and injuries. The SICU team continues to watch her recovery and cognitive function.

Their entire world was transformed by this accident during what should have been one of the happiest moments, as this was Kelsey’s first-time visiting Mexico and meeting new family members.

Kelsey’s medical bills have built up and will continue to build as this will be a long road to recovery. It has been almost three weeks and medical bills are already close to $100,000.

Kelsey and Roberto are proud parents of Eliana age 3 and Ethan 18 months. The family live in Lincoln, MA and this is going to be extremely emotional and physical for Roberto and family. Roberto will need support and financial aid taking care of his children.

This GoFundMe will help with medical costs, and childcare funds when needed, and likely future homecare nursing as Kelsey recovers from injuries. Roberto had to pay out of pocket for a medical transport to bring Kelsey home from Mexico because the insurance did not cover medical transportation.
