Support Kelten’s Brain Surgery

Donation protected

It is every parent's worst nightmare realized when their child is injured or becomes sick. You feel helpless, worried, and you want to take that pain away from your child. Kelly and Dan Sattler are realizing their worst fears, for their 4.5 year old son, Kelten, and need all the support, prayers and love we can provide.

Kelten has always been a very active, fun-loving and smart little boy. He's strong, a little bit crazy, and if you know him, you know he eats every meal with a bottle of ranch as his side dish. His charm rubs off on everyone he meets. Recently, Kelten's demeanor began to change, everything from changes in mood to a periodic onset of mild seizures, followed by extreme lethargy. The seizures began to be more frequent. Kelly's momma intuition told her he needed to be seen immediately, and she took him to Children's Hospital Los Angeles for medical attention.

Doctor's were very attentive and reactive scheduling Kelten for CT scans, EEG tests, other neurological tests, and blood panels. Kelten appeared to have a possible case of Epilepsy, which could hopefully be treated with meds and be something he'd grow out of as he got older. An MRI was scheduled to see if they could figure out where the seizures were coming from. The MRI, unfortunately showed much more than anyone could have possibly imagined: a mass in his frontal lobe.

The next steps for Kelten will likely be a very complex brain surgery to remove the tumor, even further complicated by the fact that this sweet boy also has diagnosed Hemophilia, a disorder that impairs the body's ability to make blood clots, a process needed to stop bleeding.

The Sattler family needs our support to help Kelten battle his way back to being a healthy, rambunctious and active little boy. Kelly and Dan are both unable to work at this time, living mostly out of CHLA. Kelten's medical needs may go well beyond his surgery to possible therapies, and assisted medical needs for months after or longer. While the family is beyond devastated, they are extremely comforted by the pouring out of love, prayers and support from family and friends near and far.

Thank you to everyone for taking a moment to read and please #PrayForKelten
