I was standing in the newsroom of my first TV job and in walks a man in a powder blue wedding tuxedo. He stuck his hand out and said, “Hello Linda, I know we are meeting for dinner this weekend, but I thought I should introduce myself beforehand. I’m Ken Mills.”
He was at the TV station to shoot a promo for a bridal fair his radio station was sponsoring. That radio station, KSQY, was a dream for Ken, built by him from the ground up in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
We were introduced by a couple of friends and were married a year later.
Two days after our 38th Wedding Anniversary, Ken had a stroke. Lab tests led to a stunning diagnosis, Stage 4 Gallbladder Cancer. We are devastated, heartbroken and determined to make our remaining moments together a celebration of life and love. Our story is filled with chances we took, the many places we have lived and the incredible friendships we built over years of hard work, dreams and laughter. We appreciate our friends and family more than you will ever know. Thanks for giving us so much love and support over the years. Thanks for being here now.
