Hi, my name is Chad Chapman and my wife is Kendra.; here is our story. My wife has over the last 20 years had severe health issues such as a dairy casein allergy which took a tremendous hit to her immune system. Resulting in a weigh loss of over 150 lbs in approximately one year time. She has also had to fight several other illnesses along the way. Over time though she did begin to improve. We made the choice in April 2022 to move out of the place we called home and moved within just a few miles of being with family. Things seemed to be going fairly well briefly. Then in January 2023 Kendra was diagnosed with stomach cancer. In April 2023 she had surgery to remove the cancer resulting in 60% of her stomach being taken. And a second surgery shortly afterward. This all resulted in an additional weight loss from approximately 100 lbs down to 60 lbs at her lowest. On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, I awoke to her unresponsive and immediately called EMS. They arrived quickly and determined that her blood sugar had dropped to 30. Being taken by squad to the ER they finally got her stable and put into a room. The following day (Wednesday) she was moved to ICU in order to be monitored better. Early Thursday morning she suffered a cardiac arrest after her blood sugar dropped to 20. She was placed on a ventilator after being without oxygen to her heart and brain for 5 minutes. She was in a coma for four days after her cardiac arrest but by the grace of God she began to make improvements and wanted to fight. The following week she received a tracheotomy in order for the vent to be less invasive. Despite her determination to fight she finally lost the battle yesterday at 10:06 am. She was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks. She was 3 hours short of exactly 3 weeks to the day. Yesterday I lost the love of my life. Kendra never complained about her illnesses, she had such a giving loving heart and will be missed more than you can imagine. I love my wife and will always love her.
