Kendra Fights Brain Cancer

Our Dearest Kendra Harris, wife of Matt, and mother of James, has been diagnosed with Brain Cancer. Please consider showing support to her and her family in this time of need.

Kendra was traveling home from the UW Medical Center in Seattle, where she works in the transplant department. She suffered a first-time seizure while driving home and got into a 6 car accident near her home in Bothell.

Upon testing, we were given the devastating news that Kendra has a brain tumor that was the cause of the seizures. We followed up with her former colleagues in the Surgical Specialties department at UW, where the Neurosurgery department performed a brain biopsy to collect tissue samples.

Results from the laboratory tests show that she has an inoperable, diffuse grade 2 glioma in her left temporal lobe, near her speech, memory, and motor centers. There is no cure for this rare cancer type, but test results show it is a slower-growing tumor and is affected by radiation therapy.

Kendra has now embarked courageously onto her treatments of Proton Radiation therapy at Fred Hutch. She will undergo 6 weeks of daily radiation to 3 different parts of her brain. Upon completion of radiation, she will continue with 1 year of chemotherapy through her UW Oncologist.

The support that has been shown to Kendra by family and colleagues has been overwhelming. She has touched so many lives with her sweet kindness, constant positive attitude, and her profound impact on patient lives alongside her teammates at UW Medical Center Montlake, Microsoft's Living Well Center, and Lakeshore Clinic/Evergreen Health Bothell.
