Kennedy Brice Rachel Petray

Kennedy was a part of our rescue family and we’re raising money to help her husband Blake. All proceeds will go to him. Please see some of her story below, donate and share. I will update with details regarding a service when we know more.

 There are people in this world that just light up from the inside and you can feel their bright spirit when they walk in the room. @ Kennedy Petray was one of those people. She had the biggest heart, happiest smile, and deepest laughter. She LOVED and she loved big. Rather it was her husband, family, friends, dogs, or an injured animal on the side of the road, she loved them with everything she had.

 

I, like so many, met Kennedy through her passion for animals and rescue. We quickly realized what a force of good she was and were so blessed to have her heart, hands and expertise associated with Last Chance AR. We’ve lost count of the cats and dogs in their forever homes because of Kennedy’s impact. She cried with me when we couldn’t save them and cried with me when we saw them walking into their new life. She was a part of our rescue village.  

 

Those who knew her, know she has been through more loss and sadness in her life than anyone should have to in a lifetime. She and her husband lost their son, Theo, a few years ago. She lost her mom last weekend. Yet, even in the saddest of times, she had that, same, unforgettable smile. Kennedy saw the light in the darkest places. She saw the good in everyone. She believed in people when they didn’t believe in themselves anymore. That’s just who she was. 

 

Blake and Kennedy recently found and purchased their first home together and moved in just a few weeks ago - a dream, realized.  You could hear the joy and pride in her voice. Finally, a place she and Blake could call their own. I am so grateful she got to see that dream come true and move into their perfect house, all of their hard work truly paying off.  

 

We cannot understand the sense of loss, feelings of helplessness, and fear that Blake and Kennedy’s dad are probably feeling. I know we can’t do anything to ease that pain but what we can do is gather together and support their family, just like Kennedy would if the roles were reversed.

 

If Kennedy touched your life with her kindness, rather it was helping you find a new pet, save an abandoned animal, or just being there to listen when you needed an ear, please donate what you can to help Blake and her family. This is going to be an extremely difficult time, excluding the financial burden.
