Kennedy Thornton Medical Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Wendy Botts. I'm a family friend of the Thornton Family.

Kennedy recently underwent what should have been a routine wisdom teeth surgery July 17th. The day after surgery, Kennedy started showing symptoms of a post opp infection. Kennedy was admitted to Helen Devos Children's Hospital July 19th for a post opp infection.

Kennedy is currently in the ICU, sedated, intubated and very sick. Kenedy has had multiple surgeries to try and clean the infection out. During one of the surgeries, it was discovered she's developed necrotizing fascitis. Kennedy suffered extensive facial tissue death and will require more surgeries down the road.

It's unclear at this time, how long Kenedy will be in the hospital but after 2 weeks of hospitalization thus far, with a majority of Kennedy's stay in the ICU, medical bills are a huge concern.

Kennedy has a very long road ahead her. Meghan will be unable to work for the foreseeable future and Mike has had to miss work to be by Kennedy's side.

As Mike and Meghan watch as their daughter fights for her life, medical expenses shouldn't be something they need to worry about. This is where you come in. As friends and family of the Thorntons, please consider donating any amount to help cover the massive medical bills and missed work.

The following is a FB post a week after Kennedy's

It’s been a week since Kenn’s wisdom teeth- wow, can life change in a week!
She has been admitted since Wednesday (other than 9 hours at home on a premature release) and has a few more days while they figure out what kind of infection she has. She had surgery yesterday to clean out the infection and place a drain tube. This week has been a huge lesson in the importance of advocating for your children in regards to medical care. We were told on four occasions to “wait it out” and I cannot imagine what would have happened if we had followed that advice.

I do have to take a minute to brag about this little man for being an absolute champ this week. He has rearranged his routine (tough work for a 12 year old) to be there for his sister and parents. He has spent days and nights in the hospital, cleaned the kitchen to help, picked out gifts for his sister, and pretended to not be disappointed when plans changed.

I also have to thank the family and friends who have shown up in the middle of the night to stay with B, spent nights at our house with him and the dogs, sent meals, sent gifts/funny reels/snacks to lift spirits, sat in the hospital so I could shower, and rearranged their lives to help us all. We have the best village and I am grateful for all of you. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for your kindness abs generosity for the Thornton Family.
