Kenneth Drase Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Our beloved father, Ken Drase, passed away on January 15, 2021.  Funds raised will go to Ken's family to help cover the costs of his memorial, bills, and expenses related to tending to his estate.

Kenneth J. Drase, 71, passed away on January 15, 2021 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.  He was born on September 25, 1949 in Chicago to Kenneth Frank and Violet Gene (nee Higginson) Drase. He was united in marriage to Marti Roberts on October 21, 1972 in Buffalo Grove.
Ken took great pride in his work.  Ken loved bringing new life to people’s homes through a long career in the trade of cabinet and countertop design and installation.  He was a true craftsman and artist.  Ken was sought after for his quality of work because he was tireless and dedicated to the perfection of his craft.  Ken has left his mark on thousands of homes in the Chicagoland area (and beyond).  His home was always filled with items he collected and revived into beautiful treasures while antiquing with his wife and his great friends.  If it wasn’t “cherry” or done with great detail; then it wasn’t Ken.

Ken was very proud to have served as the “radio man” aboard the SSBN-630 USS John C. Calhoun.  He loved hiking Isle Royale National Park, visiting Colorado, attending antique and car shows, and fishing.  He always had a project and loved to share his aspirations with all of them.  And then there was his love of only the finest of cuisines: Lasagna, canned wieners, spam, chili mac, or a “good rueben” to be washed down with a cold Spotted Cow… and if all of this could be found at the same buffet house then all the better!

He was very caring, thoughtful, and made it a priority to create fun experiences for his family and friends.  If you received a gift from Ken, it was most likely above and beyond and was often influenced by his sense of humor.  He was just as loyal to his dogs as his dogs were to him.  Ken didn’t know what “I don’t care” meant.

Kenneth leaves behind his son Matthew Gary (Beth) Drase; his sisters, Debra Hardman and Brenda (Odys) Pilalis; his sheltie dog Jake; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marti Lynn; his brother Gary Drase; and his godfather Warren Brandt as well as many loving pets.

Services will be held privately at a future date alongwith the ability to participate via Zoom.
