Keno City Hotel

On Friday December 11th, 2020 @ approximately 8:30pm, The Keno City Hotel became engulfed in flames. The hotel and its entirety is gone. 100 years. Unfortunately there was no insurance. Everything is gone. 
The fire is under investigation.

Leo Martel and his brother had purchased the hotel in 2006 and poured themselves into an extensive restoration "before we started, she had both feet in the grave and was sliding fast."
Leo spent the next 10 years preserving history and creating a wonderful space for locals and visitors from around the world to enjoy.

"I think it’s important for people to know that the Keno City Hotel was Leo Martel’s whole world. He put so much of himself into that place and that town. It was truly his joy and honour to preserve it and operate such an important part of Keno City’s history. He loved to share it with those who’d venture so far north, and his Keno Gras festival was the personification of that."

His entire world was destroyed including his personal savings that didn’t make it in the safe. He is a good man and I know there are so many of us from afar that want to contribute and don't know how. This is a good way of showing our love and appreciation for all the hard work he endured so he could share a piece of history with us. This money is going to be directly given to him.
