Kent Hickey's Medical Expenses

For those who know and adore Kent, this site is for him and his family. He is a fun loving individual with a grand personality. He is a husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He comes for a long line of Christians and is a member of the Church of Christ in New Lebanon, OH. Where he not only attends there, but he also teaches the adult class on Sundays and preaches when he is needed.
On January 25, Kent went in for a colonoscopy, due to discomfort in using the restroom. The results were not what everyone was expecting, and there was a large tumor in his colon and he was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer. Within a few weeks of his diagnose and the scans that would tell all, it has spread to his liver and lymph nodes in his colon. At that point his cancer is now at Stage 4. He is currently undergoing treatment to stunt the growth and has scheduled a number of treatments. Once those treatments are complete, they will do a PET scan to check for any shrinkage. If they find that there was not significant improvement, they will then decide to extend the treatments or opt for surgery.
Although after a few treatments, the doctors are finding that his tumor markers are going down, which is a great sign. His doctor is pleased with the progress and hopes to continue this trend. Kent is a fighter and is an inspiration to us all. Every day he pushes the envelope for more, which he continues to do and all that surrounds him, tend to follow suit.
This GoFundMe account is to help alleviate the out of pocket expenses that have and continue to add up. Though he does have health insurance, there are co-pays, extra expenses and alternative means. Since their out of pocket expense is $8,000 for his treatments, scans, chemo, radiation and medicines; we are striving to help them with this large amount of money.
This journey has been a lot on his family and the medical bills are piling up quickly. We know that if we took some of these worries off of his plate, we can help him to focus on the battle that lies ahead. This will also help Michelle as she stands beside him in his fight.
Kent has blessed so many of us in his life. Now, it's time that we send back some of that love. Prayers and positive thoughts will help immensely. Everything we can do to help and surround him with love is important so that he can focus on beating this.
