Kentuckiana Service Industry Covid19 Bailout
Donation protected
Louisville has suffered an enormous $60 million (and counting) loss in tourism from the global coronavirus pandemic. This is an extreme, devastating loss for the backbone of the Louisville hospitality industry. It's only a matter of hours before our state(s) shut down all bars, restaurants, and tipped employee establishments. As a 20-year veteran of the industry, I know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck.
Over the years, I've been tipped well. I've also lived in (and out) of my car because I couldn't afford housing while attending college. 80% of Americans have less than $1,000.00 in savings. Two weeks, a month... without income... it's detrimental. Imagine the families just keeping it together, day to day, WITHOUT the current problems.
If you were planning on visiting Louisville for the upcoming events we host pre-Derby, please consider donating your "tip budget" as if you had attended. If you can donate the cost of a 12 -pack of toilet paper or the cost of some baby wipes that would help, too. I created this campaign in a moment of inspiration that demanded action.
Take ACTION now.
If you love America's native spirit, then please help the footsoldiers who have brought the products to market: servers, bartenders, barbacks, the bussers, the dishwashers, the chefs.
The tourism and hospitality industry is Kentucky's third largest industry, employing over 27,000 workers in Louisville alone.
Organizations that will be supported by this fundraiser include USBG KY, Apron, and the Lee Initiative.
