Kenya Men and Women's National Teams, "Wildfire"

Hello Everyone:

As of January 2023, the Kenya Lacrosse Association and the Kenya Lacrosse Federation completed a successful merger in the spirit of bringing stability and sustainability to the sport of Lacrosse in Kenya. Since the merger, we have been working feverishly over the past few months to ensure that we can bring our Kenya Men's and Women's National Lacrosse team to Ghana to compete at the Wildfire Lacrosse Tournament this coming August.

This will be our first foray competing under the new international 6's format, which we feel is incredibly well suited for our Kenyan players. This will be the first international women's competition since 2019, and the ladies are very excited to get back on the field to compete. Our men are coming off a very eventful year, competing at both the U21 world championships in Ireland and then hosting the Africa qualifier game this past November in Nairobi. the men lost a heartbreaker in triple overtime. Sadly, we did not qualify for the Sr. Men's World Championships this summer. The Wildfire Tournament will give us the opportunity to compete against other African Lacrosse teams, and it will be historic to have these teams compete against each other for the first time.

As a college coach for the past 40 years, Kenya Lacrosse has rekindled my passion for coaching on the international stage. However, if you have heard me speak about why we do what we do, you understand that the sport of lacrosse is just the catalyst to help facilitate a long-term and sustainable national team program that carries hope and success way past the lacrosse field. We believe that our players will pay it forward to the next generation of boys and girls to use the sport of lacrosse as a launch pad to a brighter future.
