Celebrate Kerry Hill: Son, Brother & Friend
Donation protected
Every parent’s worst nightmare is losing their child. My dear friend and client, Tamara, is experiencing this nightmare with one of her 5 sons, Kerry. (He also has brothers Chris, Jovan, Shaun, & Devin).
Her son and my former classmate, Kerry James Hill, left work at Cloudscape Vape in Torrance, CA on Monday midday, December 28th, 2020 for a delivery around 1-2PM and was expected to return around 5PM. He never came back.
COVID-19 has taken a toll on every person worldwide and more so on certain individuals. Some struggle with mental health, isolation, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately, Kerry suffered from the latter. His girlfriend, Angela, discovered a suicide note that he wrote and emailed to himself on the 22nd expressing his intention to act on feelings that first appeared at age 10. Message to parents from Tamara: get in your kid's business.
Police searched and eventually found the van in Redondo Beach the morning of January 2nd, 2021 - one day after his 29th birthday. They believe he took his own life on his birthday. Please send strength, prayers, love and light to his mother, brothers, and close family.
I hope you take a moment to scroll and look through photos of Kerry and his family. He was one of the most kindhearted, empathetic, introspective, deep, talented, and considerate people I knew. His personality absolutely shines through in these photos.
The family is so tight-knit that Tamara and her next eldest son, Christopher, immediately dropped everything to focus on finding Kerry. The financial repercussions of this time off of work have made it difficult to support the full household. The high cost of funeral services is a huge point of stress for many families who have just lost a loved one. In addition to unexpected funeral preparations, the family has an immediate financial need of assistance with food, rent, and this month's expenses.
If this story has resonated with you at all, you can help Kerry's family survive while they navigate through this overwhelming exhausting search for answers. Trust me when I say every little bit helps, even $5. Every donation will go to the family.
If you or someone you know has struggled with mental health, you are not alone. Vent to someone by texting or calling the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, even if it is just to talk. However much you might not want to speak to someone, do it anyway. Depression can look like any of the photos below.
*If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide:
1) Follow The 3-Day Rule: wait 3-7 days & reevaluate your plans
2) Speak To Someone Now: If you are going to spend the rest of forever gone, what's the harm in a text/call now?
3) You Are Not Alone: most people who are suicidal go on to lead a much longer life
4) Realize The Pain: In many cases, suicide is not painless, and not only for you - think of every life you have come in contact with
