Kerry’s Recovery: Help Our Favorite Witchy Twitter Professor

We are raising funds to help our friend Kerry and her family while they are struggling with medical problems.

Kerry is a wonderful person who brings joy and laughter to everyone in her life. She is a brilliant and amazing teacher to her students, an excellent mother to her children, and she has been a tireless champion for queer Mormons and others who need a little light in their life.

About four months ago, Kerry had a stroke. She has been very fortunate because she teaches, and this has allowed her to take the summer off to focus solely on getting better. She was recovering very well with some help, but then her wife Heather needed a pacemaker, got a blood clot, had a pulmonary embolism, and doctors discovered she also has an aneurysm that will need to be operated on in the future! The last few months have been a lot! The added stress from her wife's own medical issues has set Kerry's recovery back and has understandably been hard for Heather also.

For the last four months Kerry's friend Alexis has been helping with things around the house, driving her to appointments, and assisting with walking and mobility, but Alexis recently graduated with his PhD. He needs to start working soon and will have less free time to help out. Since Kerry will begin teaching again in September, losing the extra help will be a real challenge. If anyone can beat the odds in Kerry's condition it is her, but she and Heather could really still use the daily help.

Kerry has helped all of us tremendously in the past with her good humor and in her role as an advocate for queer Mormons, and we would really love to be able to repay the favor at this time. We are raising funds to help Kerry and her family with the following needs:

A mobility scooter to help Kerry get around at work

Outstanding medical bills

Funds to pay Alexis or another person to continue assisting with daily tasks

If we raise a little extra money, we would also like to help with other less pressing needs that would nonetheless be a help to the family, including but not limited to:

A cleaning service

Money for meal prep or take-out

Car repairs

Any future healthcare costs
