Dave's battle with cancer

In June of 2022, Dave was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma (brain tumor) located at the base of his brainstem. A week after his diagnosis he was scheduled for a lengthy surgery to remove approximately 98% of the tumor. While this surgery was successful in removing almost all the tumor (due to its location, a small portion had to be left), it left Dave with a long road to recovery. Over the next 12 months, Dave underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy, infusions, MRIs, other medical tests, hospital stays, and intense rehab, all while never returning to his home yet keeping a positive attitude. His wife Sue, with the help of friends and family, has been by his side every day and night. Providing support and caring for his every need including being his medical liaison when he was unable to.

In the past three weeks, Dave has endured a TIA (mini-stroke) and seizure-like symptoms causing his brain to swell and bringing him back to post-surgery-like symptoms. The latest MRI showed that the tumor has grown, which is likely contributing to his symptoms.

On July 20, 2023, Sue and Dave made the difficult decision to place Dave in Hospice. All treatment measures have been stopped with the main goal now- to keep Dave comfortable.

As you can imagine, this is not the road Dave, Sue nor their families wanted to go down. The money raised will go towards medical/transportation bills, housing fees at their local assisted living facility, and funeral expenses when the time comes.
