Original Post
In 2016 I began working with D.C. residents in the fight for  DC Paid Leave. Many people spoke up to help convince the Council that now is the time for DC to act.

One of the most amazing people I had the honor to meet was Kesha Scrivner. Beyond being a loving mother and grandmother, she is an activist for improving the early childhood programs in the District and the stability of all families.

In 2014, Kesha was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, just a few months before her daughter’s second birthday. Unfortunately, with the cost of rent, childcare, and other basics in the District, Kesha could not afford to take the time she needed for her body to recover. As she says, “I can’t heal if I can’t rest. I can’t rest if I can’t pay my bills.”

Unfortunately, Kesha still has to face that dilemma as her cancer has spread.

You would know Kesha if you ever met her on the street. She’s the one beaming with light, telling you to that you can overcome anything; she's the one who will offer to help. I'm asking the community for help support her as she has supported so many others, your funds will help to cover her lost wages, medical treatment, transportation and to ensure her children continue to have all their needs met.

If you have a moment to donate please do, if you have words of encouragement please leave them. Thank you all in advance for helping to support Kesha and her family.
