Kety G. Machado Scholarship Fund

On December 1, Kety G. Machado passed after a long, brave battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). To say her love, companionship and wisdom will be missed is an understatement.
In lieu of flowers, we’ve decided to honor Kety’s passion for education and youth by creating a scholarship in her name. This scholarship will be granted to a recipient who has consistently demonstrated selflessness and compassion, as Kety did throughout her life. We want to celebrate the belief in empathy by supporting the selected recipient's life goals and aid their educational aspirations.
Below is a bit about Kety's journey as an educator. To read more about Kety's life, her obituary can be found here: https://cochranfuneral.com/obituary/1428/
Thank you for helping us honor Kety/our mom’s memory through this effort.

As an educator, Kety's career included several wonderful New Jersey districts such as Bridgewater and Elizabeth, two held a special place in her heart. Piscataway High School, the town where she raised her family, offered her many rewarding years that included teaching students who were friends of her own daughters. The district that was forever in her heart for the friendships made, adoration of students, and aligning with her advocacy for the underrepresented was New Brunswick High School. From buying winter coats for students unable to afford them to hosting chips and soda Saturdays at her house to provide a safe sanctuary, her dedication to academia and kindness was paramount.
Over the years, she received countless letters from former students determined to share her impact on their lives and how their influence greatly led to their successful futures.
