Olivia Jobe’s fight against Myasthenia Gravis
Donation protected
Olivia was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis and is receiving immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatments before she undergoes surgery in Fargo. Cracking her chest plate is one of the three methods used to remove the gland that has tumors on it.
Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness in the skeletal muscles, which are responsible for breathing and moving parts of the body, including the arms and legs. There is no known cure but with current therapies in most cases the disease can be put into remission.
Olivia is 11 years old. She is raised in Bagley with her older brother Alex, by her loving parents Evan and Samantha.
Despite the daily struggle, Liv continues to stay positive knowing how hard she is going to have to fight.
Imagine waking up one day and it being hard almost impossible to talk, smile, even walk. All the things we take for granite every single day!!! Olivia can’t take those things for granite anymore.
We use the same muscles so much that we don’t even have to think about using them, they just work.... grabbing this or jumping over that, combing your hair, or brushing your teeth. Playing with our kids, dancing, singing making memories! But what if they didn’t work? What if one day everything just stopped working for you?
Over the last year this has been a hard road for this brilliant 11 year old girl. Her love for dancing ended shorter than planned. During one of her performances her legs gave out dropping her to the ground. She fought hard to get up and when she couldn’t she crawled off stage collapsing in the hallway. This happened twice before she had to say good by to her love for dancing. But like I’ve said... she’s a fighter!
She has fought so hard battling this disease, but her fight will NEVER end. There is no cure or solution for what she has.
It’s possible one day they will find a cure, but right now it’s a burden in her life. Forever altering who she is. Your donation, no matter how big or small will help her through life, and fight this in the coming years.
I know one day this beautiful, smart, amazing young lady will change the world, but until then please help change hers by donating!
