Kevin Brooks Fights Metastatic Colon Cancer
Donation protected
Kevin and Jennifer met on a motorcycle ride 13 years ago and will be married for 9 years. In that time, they have welcomed twin boys that are 5 years old and another son who is 3.
In August of 2020, Kevin was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 4 Colon Cancer with a TP53 mutation that had spread to his liver. The prognosis was very concerning. Kevin had to immediately begin an aggressive chemo regimen every other week. Despite consults with several well-known cancer hospitals throughout the U.S, the response was always the same – the cancer was too aggressive for a surgical solution. Finally, after 12 months of chemo and 25 long chemo treatments, the cancer stopped responding to the treatments, and they were able to locate a surgeon to remove the cancer.
In September of 2021, Kevin underwent surgery removing 60% of his liver, 3 feet of his colon, his appendix, and his gallbladder. Due to complications from surgery that included a round of pneumonia and a collapsed lung, Kevin spent 29 days in the hospital and was able to return home where he spent 3 months recovering.
In February of 2022 they received news that his cancer had returned. There were 10 new spots on his liver and it had spread to his lungs. Kevin was faced with a prognosis of 2 months to live unless he immediately restarted chemo treatments to reduce the tumors.
Since his diagnosis, Kevin has been on disability and undergoes chemo treatments every other week. His wife, Jenn, works full time while caring for Kevin and their 3 boys. To ease some of the financial burden, we have set up this page so Kevin can focus on making memories with his family and kicking cancer's butt!
This fund and your generous support and prayers are deeply appreciated by the family and everyone who knows them. I've known this family for 18 years and they mean the world to me.
