Kevin Digilio Memorial and help for son Zach
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Michelle. On December 21, 2023, we received the devastating news that my brother, Kevin, passed away, unexpectedly. He lived in Montreal, Canada, with his severely Autistic 13 year old son, Zachary. He was Zach’s sole caregiver. Kevin devoted his life to caring for Zach. Even though caring for Zach could be challenging, Kevin rose to the occasion, and loved taking care of and living with Zach. He wouldn’t have it any other way. His life revolved around Zach.
When Kevin passed away, Zach was taken by social services in Montreal and put in a home. Kevin’s other son, Nick, who resides in the United States, is trying to get custody of Zach and to bring him to the US to live with him and his family. This is truly what Kevin would have wanted and what’s best for Zach. His brother Nick, loves him and can’t live with the thought of his brother being in the care of strangers. Nick has consulted with an attorney and the attorney told him that it would be a very long and drawn out case. He requires a very large retainer before he will start any process.
Also is the issue of the cost of Kevin’s funeral and transport of his remains to the US for burial. My mother, Sandy, is organizing a funeral and burial in Poughkeepsie, NY. Kevin struggled with finances, trying to support himself and Zach, and did not have any money set aside for his funeral or burial. There are charges from the funeral home in Montreal, the transport, and the funeral and burial expenses in NY. My mother is on a fixed income and can’t afford to pay all of these costs.
We are also concerned for Zachary’s future and for costs associated with caring for him , if and when Nick gets custody.
Any donations and/or prayers that you can make to help our family get custody of Zach, care for Zach, and help pay for Kevin’s funeral and burial expenses, are greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless all of you.
