Kevin Fitzgerald Recovery

To our friends and family in Seattle and beyond,
On Monday July 5th, while at home in Seattle, my partner and love Kevin Fitzgerald suffered a large stroke - the second of two. He is currently in the Harborview ICU, and is intubated while recovering from cranial surgery. He is on a strong course of pain medication and blood thinners to help prevent further damage. This has been my first chance to put together a comprehensive message to let everyone know.
Doctors say that he's not out of the woods quite yet, but he's stable. Kevin's family and my mother have all traveled to Seattle to assist with his care, and help support me in navigating this overwhelming and scary time. I'm devastated and worried for Kevin, but continue to fight alongside him. This is not easy, and frankly, I'm a wreck but I'm optimistic about his recovery.
Kevin is only able to see immediate family right now and has limited consciousness. I've been trying to bolster his spirits by passing on well wishes and to let him know how much he is loved.
Communication is a lot for me to manage right now, but a friend we trust is setting up a GoFundMe, and I can use that to post updates and let you know what his next steps are. There will most certainly be a heavy course of rehabilitation once he's able to leave the hospital. I've also had to make the difficult choice to quit my new job to care for him, and I know the financial road ahead will be difficult for us.
When things like this happen and people offer to help, it's always hard to know what to ask for. I know Kevin would love to hear from friends.
