Kevin "Frog" Garnett ❤️

My name is Patty, PJ to my husband, Kevin, aka Frog . Kevin has been battling colorectal cancer that has metastasized to his liver, lungs, throat and brain. He has been strong throughout this fight that started February 2021. We had our hearts broken this week as we went to the hospital for a scheduled surgery to relieve the pressure from his colon and for him to be able to have some quality time with less pain so that he could do some things he wished to do since he had been unable to walk for the past couple of months. He was worried about the surgery but wanted to get it done so he could be able to have some good times with our 19 grandbabies and 1 great grandson. After arriving at the hospital early Tuesday morning they said he wasn't strong enough to undergo the surgery that day but they would try to build him up by giving him blood and possibly be able to do the surgery on Thursday or Friday. He received 2 pints of blood and he was feeling better and we were anxious to get the surgery done so that we could go home and he could heal up from the surgery so that we could continue this fight against this ugly cancer and try to enjoy our lives with a better outcome. However on Wednesday afternoon Kevin started bleeding and lost a large amount of blood and ended up in the ICU and after having 3 more pints of blood they came to us and told us that Kevin had 2 choices and the choices were they tried to do surgery to find the vessels that he was bleeding from and cauterize them but he wasn't strong after losing the amount of blood he had lost and he would more than likely end up on life support and would only be about 10 percent of who he was and be unable to communicate with anyone and the second choice was to not try to stop the bleeding and for him to receive comfort measures. Kevin looked at me and said "I don't want to be on a machine" I told him I would stand beside him whatever he wants to do. To try to make this long story short, Kevin told me he wanted to go home and he had the support of many of his family members there at the hospital and he came home Wednesday night and he had the biggest smile on his face when he got back home and he said he was happy to be home. He was set up with Hospice and those people have been a blessing to us all the past couple of days. Kevin has declined excessively since Wednesday night and he is surrounded by several of his family members, children, sisters, brothers and grandchildren. Kevin's wish was that we not have him cremated and that he be buried in Laddonia Cemetery . Kevin doesn't have any life insurance and after I, his son and his sister Marsha spoke with the funeral home this evening he gave us the estimated cost for Kevin to have a proper service without including any flowers the cost would be between 9 to 10,000 dollars. Kevin has been my best friend since I was 13 years old and even though our lives went different directions throughout the years we always were together and never apart for very long at a time. We've always had a bond that noone could destroy no matter what happened through the years. I want for my best friend, my husband, my soul mate to have the funeral he deserves to have. He told me yesterday that we will be together forever and a day because that is what we have said to each other for almost 50 years and I told him this is only going to be a minute for him waiting for me to join him and it's always been and always will be forever and a day.

I don't like asking for help but I'm doing exactly that so that I can bury my husband who will be leaving my side any moment soon. Please pray for Kevin as he makes this journey and please pray for his family and friends who are having a very hard time facing the fact that we have to let him go soon Thank you for your prayers and support.
