Kevin Gamache Memorial Bench
Donation protected
We are creating a GoFundMe page to raise money for a bench and plaque at Fresh Meadows park in Wallingford to celebrate the life of a beloved son, brother and friend, Kevin Gamache, who died in a car accident on July 10, 2019.
Kevin grew up in the neighborhood of Fresh Meadows. He attended Cook Hill, Moran, Sheehan and UConn. He played Yalesville Little League and Wallingford Men's Softball. He was an avid Mets fan who shared that love with his parents and brother, visiting Citi Field yearly with either family or friends. He was a talented guitar player who loved music and jamming with his friends. He enjoyed playing basketball and played in the Weber league and in pick up games in the neighborhood. He loved fishing with his grandfather and brother and enjoyed biking, hiking and skiing .
Kevin will be remembered forever as a devoted friend who had a passion for life. He was good person with a vibrant smile who made others laugh bringing joy and fun to their lives. He was also a kind person who cared about others. He was loved by many.
The bench will face the large rock in the small wooded area next to the trail at Fresh Meadows. It was here that Kevin spent time with friends climbing the rock, hiking in the woods, skating on the pond and bicycling in the area.
We would like the bench to be a place where his family and friends can celebrate and remember the boy and young man, Kevin, who left this life too soon but left his spirit in the beauty of this area and many wonderful memories.
The donations collected will help pay for the bench, plaque, and liftgate fee. Any remaining or excess funds will be given to the Gamache family or used to purchase flowers for the bench area.
The memorial has already been approved by the Wallingford Conservation Committee, Mayor's office and Parks and Recreation Department and will be presented for approval to the Town Council as a bench donation to the town of Wallingford.
After the money is raised, the Park and Rec Director, Kenny Michaels, will be informed and the bench will be ordered. At that point, public works will then install the bench. The bench company Dumor, approved by Wallingford Recreation department, states in their estimate, that it will take from 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.
