Kevin Lirette (The Lord will make a way)

Donation protected

Update on Kevin Lirette -  This week he starts face radiation treatments. His mouth, arm, and leg is healing well. He said to tell everyone thank you thank you thank you.

Michelle don’t go back to work until after the radiation treatment. He said if the treatments don’t make him sick Michelle will go back. He said the funding help pay the bills last month but February is about to start and they used all the funds for January.

I told him don’t worry about the bills God will make a way. I thought about that after we spoke and remembered when I broke my ankle in 2007. At that time we was living week to week and I was told it would take 9 months to heal.  People told me the same, (The Lord will provide) but my faith wasn’t that strong.  I made myself sick stressing about paying the bills. It wasn’t until my parents called and said we will cover your bills until you heal. WHAT, I couldn’t believe it and from that moment I felt a ton of bricks lifting off me.

I shared that story with a pastor, and what he said I will never forget. He told me you don’t need more faith, but you need to open your eyes and become aware. He said that phone call from your parents was the Lord making a way. I will never forget that and from that point on I do my best to never take credit for anything. Knowing that my life is not my own and every breath I take is only because of the Lord.

I shared that story to let everyone know this fundraiser page is here because the Lord put this on my heart to help Kevin and his family.  Everyone who donated last month was because you stumbled on this post. What you donated was God moving on your heart. If you are reading this post the Lirette family still needs our help. I ask if you would please pray and let God move on your heart again to help however you can.

The story below was the original post. I will leave that up if anyone wanted to read it again.

My name is Johnny Belsome and Kevin Lirette is my best friend. Most already know the nightmare this family has dealt with. Those who don’t and stumble to this page let me explain.

Kevin was diagnose in 2016 with leukemia. After a year in the hospital, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, blood transplant, etc he was released. The doctors warn Kevin that his immune system was weak and said he was far from out of the woods. Unfortunately Kevin’s battle started right away.

Cancer returns in 2017 in his gums. They removed all his teeth to cut the cancer from his gums. The first surgery was not successful. Two months later he went through a second surgery.

Mid 2019 he had pain in his upper hip, this pain intensified after a few months. Eventually he could no longer walk. His cartilage deteriorated from all the cancer treatments. This caused his bones to rub together. He went back into surgery end of 2019 to have hip replacement.

Late 2020 he started feeling sick and tired. Reluctantly he went to the hospital and after many test the results was that darn cancer. This time it’s under his lip. 2021 he went through surgery to get it removed. That surgery was unsuccessful. A few moths later he went back for a 2nd surgery. Thinking it was finally over the cancer return a 3rd time, but the doctors said this time it’s also In his lymph nodes.

November 2022 he went through 8 hours of surgery to remove his lower mouth. They also cut his neck open from ear to ear to remove the lymph nodes. They took a large section of skin from his arm to graft to his face, and skin from the leg to graft to the arm. He spent 7 days in ICU and needed 3 blood infusions. Now his arm is getting infected and glowing red.

The link below is a video of when Kevin first got out of surgery. Just a friendly warning, the video is graphic.

I watched as Kevin was in unbearable pain, so much pain he stopped trying to explain how he felt. Only tears down his face told his story. He whispered to me “I’m done I can’t take this anymore” I wanted to give him inspiring words but just held his hand. I can’t imagine having to constantly deal with this type of pain.

The last 8 years took a toll on this family physically, emotionally, and monetarily. Kevin was always a provider for his family. Unfortunately that all ended in 2016. He was a machinist making a good living now they rely on a disability check. His wife started working at the shrimp lot to help make ends meet but most of the time she’s at the hospital helping him.

I know Kevin will never ask for help but as his best friend I am asking everyone to please help him and his family. After this last surgery they really need help with bills, rent, food, etc. Anything will help even if it’s $5 or $10. I know times are hard and if you can’t help monetarily, please help by sharing this post on your social sites. Most of all keep this family in your prayers.

I will keep everyone updated on Kevin’s progress. Every dollar raised will go straight to the Lirette family.

Below is pictures of Kevin, and his family. There’s also pictures of when they were married in the hospital.

Update - December 27, 2022- I spoke with him yesterday and he said the doctors want him to start radiation treatment. He knows about this page and said to tell everyone how grateful they are to have so many people help them.

Again I want to thank everyone that shared this page, prayed for this family, and help monetarily. If it’s possible to continue to send support their way I know it would take so much stress away. They still need help, and as much as they appreciate every dollar they will never ask. Michele still hasn’t return to work. Kevin needs her help more now than ever before.
