Help CBR's Kevin Melrose Pay for Stroke Recovery

You may not know his name, but Kevin Melrose has been responsible for some of your favorite comic book and other pop culture articles for well over a decade.
He was one of the co-creators of Comic Book Resources' comics culture blog Robot 6, and helmed Spinoff Online, CBR's first foray into covering movies and television. He later developed and ran CBR's Features department as its first Senior Features Editor. In short, if you've ever enjoyed anything published by CBR or Robot 6, Kevin most likely had a hand in creating it.
If you haven't heard of him, that's partially by design. Kevin is an extremely private and humble person. He is also among the best, kindest and most knowledgeable people in the pop culture reporting industry and one of its most under-celebrated heroes. He has helped guide not just CBR content, but the people responsible for producing it. Kevin is a terrific leader, a valued journalist, a fantastic person, and an incredible friend.
And now, he needs your help.
In late June, Kevin suddenly found himself unable to focus his eyes enough to read. Several days later, Kevin suffered a stroke, leaving him partially paralyzed and with diminished cognitive abilities.
Kevin is working hard to overcome the paralysis affecting the right side of his body, and while the initial weeks of therapy have resulted in promising progress, it may be some time before he is once again able to work, or even walk. He has also taken a major hit to his ability to communicate, often finding himself unable to form complete sentences or follow along with conversations.
As a contracted worker, Kevin doesn't have a group healthcare plan, an HSA fund, or deep savings. And while he does have decent insurance through Obamacare, it's far from ideal.
To add to the difficulty, Kevin's mother, Linda, is undergoing surgical cancer treatment in late July. A few years ago, Kevin took over the mortgage on his family home, where he lives and helps take care of his mother. As a result of his stroke and her health issues, they need our help in covering current and future medical expenses, and ensuring their bills and other expenses don't become insurmountable.
Kevin Melrose has proven time and again to be a pillar of this industry and a great human being. Anything you can give would be a tremendous help in getting him back on his feet and making sure his family has the support they need until he does.
