Kevin Mohler . The Man . The Myth . The Legend.

“You have cancer”. Those are words no one wants to hear. Those words are even harder when they are followed with “You have 6-12 months left”. This was the reality that Kevin and Terri Mohler were faced with almost a year ago on March 8th (which happens to be Kevin’s birthday) when they were told that Kevin has stage 4 stomach cancer. Facing the harsh and unfair reality of knowing you are going to leave behind your wife of 40 years, 3 daughters, 3 son-in-law’s and 5 grandchildren at the young age of 61 is something no one should ever have to think about. Kevin has fought a brave and fierce battle over the past year and hasn’t missed a beat. If you have ever had the honor of meeting Kevin and Terri your life would change instantly for the better. They would welcome you into their home with open arms and you would leave feeling life family. Simply because that’s what Kevin and Terri do- they love you deep. Whether you have met Kevin and Terri through The City of Cedar Rapids, Linn-Mar, in the grocery store, as they’re out and about – you would leave a better person.

Getting Terri and Kevin to agree to starting a GoFundMe page took some time, but only because they are not one to ask for help, but are the first ones there to help a stranger or a loved one in need. Unfortunately, due to the aggressive nature of Kevin’s cancer he had to stop working at The City of Cedar Rapids in the early months of 2022. The outpouring of love they have received during this time is so humbling and many ask, “What can I do to help?” As this cancer has quickly progressed and they've made the impossible decision to bring Kevin home with the help of hospice, it is time we step in and ease whatever small amount of financial stress we can for Kevin and Terri, who continue to give more then they receive. Unfortunately, we can’t take away the pain or provide a cure but we can blanket them in love and provide some financial relief.
