Kevin Page's Hospital Bills

About 2 months ago, Kevin - a close friend of ours and classmate in our DPT program at UM - began to have unusual leg pain. For the last month, the pain became so excruciating he wasn’t able to sleep, find any comfortable position to sit or lay down in, and ultimately had to seek medical treatment. He sought treatment from his professors - who are practicing physical therapists - but nothing worked. The pain eventually led to an ER visit, and this visit led to extensive testing that we never imagined would happen. After a CT scan, Kevin was informed of a soft tissue mass located on his spinal column and irritating one of his lower spinal nerves. Kevin was advised to remain in the hospital so he could receive other diagnostic tests as quickly as possible. Following an MRI, Kevin was further notified of horrific news for anyone, let alone a 24-year-old 3rd year DPT student: the neurologist suspected the tumor to be malignant. Kevin is now looking at a difficult road of treatment and recovery.
