Kevin Sluder with medical bills

Hi. My name is Lynda and I am raising money to help my son Kevin pay medical expenses associated with his epilepsy. Kevin is 26, about to be 27. He works part time but doesnt have group insurance. He has medical coverage through marketplace. Kevin first started having tonic clonic seizures (what they used to call grand mal) since April 2020. Since then he has been under the care of a neurologist, has been on several medications and his seizures are not controlled by medications. They have changed over the years too. He started having seizures once a month. Then they changed to cluster seizures about every 2 months. His most recent bout which is why I created this go fund me, occurred in Louisiana while we were there to go his aunt, my sister's funeral, in August. He had at least 7 tonic clonic seizures and was transported to hospital in Baton Rouge. Although he does have medical insurance, it hasn't paid for everything. The bills are mounting and he needs help paying them. I have a fundraiser goal of 8,000. What we don't spend on the medical bills, we can use toward his procedure at Shands, in Gainsville. His neurologist wants to send him to Gainesville for further testing. Mayo is not in his network. There are a couple of options we are looking into. One is a VNS implant, the other is a directed surgical procedure to extract the affected portion of the brain that is causing the seizures. At Shands they will test him to determine if he is a candidate for either of these procedures. We really need your help. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated.
