Family, Friends, Community - HELP! Donations NEEDED Every little BIT HELPS, no donation too small. If you cannot donate even $1 please please say a prayer for him and our family.
Kevin has been struggling with Afib, multiple strokes, TIA, seizures due to strokes, stage 3 kidney failure and has PKD but yet is still a man that is thinking about how he can help and provide for his family from his hospital bed. He has medical insurance but it will only cover a small percentage of medical costs. Here is more about him and everything that has been happening.
Kevin Williams is our Uncle and we are trying to get donations to help with the cost of the hospital bills and household bills. He is the main provider for his family and we can see the stress and worry on his face, yet he still continues to smile because thats who he is. Kevin is a loving husband, amazing father and grandfather who would do anything for his family. When the doctors asked him to write down his worry he wrote homeless. He has always worked hard to provide for his family, even if that meant working sun up to sun down.
Kevin has been battling with Polycystic Kidney Disease for many years and is at stage 3 kidney failure and then this happened...
On August 20th Kevin was outside power washing, hit his finger and it swelled pretty bad. He got light headed, passed out and woke up with his dog Ice by his side. When my Aunt Shelly arrived home his speech was impaired so they immediately went to the hospital. He regained his speech after about 45 minutes. After numerous tests they sent him home saying he was dehydrated and his blood pressure was high.
August 23rd - Kevin still wasn't feeling well, he was on the phone with a friend when his speech started slurring again and it was hard for him to get words out. Shelly took him back to the ER, this time they had diagnosed him with a concussion from the fall. Thankfully he had once again regained speech after some time had passed. They did an MRI but they cannot do it with dye because it would be too dangerous with his kidney levels. Doctors then said he has had a stroke and has stroke activity currently going on but they do not have the proper equipment to handle it so he was transferred to another hospital. The MRI had also shown that Kevin sustained a neck injury and if he would fall again it could paralyze him.
August 27th Kevin was released but told he would have to see many different specialist and numerous follow up appointments. He also has to wear a heart monitor for a few months, see a surgeon on his neck, visit his kidney doctor more often than he already does as well as increase in medication and some lifestyle changes.
August 30th another episode happens, Kevins speech was impaired again. This time testing showed Kevin has had an Embolic Stroke(s) on one side and a TIA (transient ischemic attack) on the other side. He was given medication to break up clots and as with the other episodes he had regained his speech after about an hr. On September 1st he got the insertable cardiac monitor put in and was released. They were so glad to be going home.
1 HOUR after being home Kevin was in the living room talking to Shelly about what movie she wanted to watch. She walked into the room to answer and seen him fall back into the chair. His eyes rolled back, he couldnt move, couldnt speak ,couldnt do anything. She called an ambulance, he was the same way when they arrived, she was scared. He just kept holding his head. He was still unable to speak and didnt know who he was or his wife. The first hospital he made it to gave him the stroke medication and slowly he started to remember himself, but still couldnt speak. He was given a paper and pen to be able to communicate. They transferred him back to the hospital that was equipped to handle his case.
By the time he had arrived back to the hospital he had already spent so much time in, he knew who he was and details about his life but still could only say a few words. A lot of our family was in the room waiting for him when he arrived, Kevin could see we were worried but he just kept smiling. Several hours passed and another MRI, he was doing better but still having trouble with his speech. He has 8 spots on his brain. Doctors cannot figure out what is causing all of these to happen so he is currently still in the hospital.
Under the circumstances Kevin cannot go back to work so he has no income coming in. Shelly has been by his side through all of this and needs to be home with him once he does get released so she is unable to work. Kevin has always provided for his family and he will not relax until he knows his family's mortgage is paid for. He doesn't want to lose the home his family has grown up in. Kevin & Shelly have a daughter, Brandi, and two sons, Ryan & Storm, as well as 3 grandbabies, Nolan, Ashton & Elana, that are constantly on his mind. Storm is his youngest son and was also diagnosed with Polysistic Kidney Disease, he is struggling with it but has great parents who make sure he has the medication he needs. Kevin will always put his family before himself which is why we are asking for your help.
As we get more updates we will post them and keep it up to date. Thank you in advance for all of your continued prayers and donation blessings. We would never ask for them if it was not a necessity.
We can't thank you enough for taking the time to read our uncle's story. Have a blessed day.
